I, Ariel, take you, Thomas.
This blog is devoted to literature, books, film, and politics. Beautiful, heartfelt, tragic, surprising, painful things that men have created and undertaken.
But without walking alongside these different creations and participating in them considering Christ Jesus, the only thing we can gain from them is that they all conclude the same thing. Everything in this life is either denying, looking for, or affirming Jesus. He's often avoided, but never avoidable.
I'll mention Jesus often. I mention Him because without Him, there is nothing.

Before I married Tomm on April 12, 2013, I was Ariel Johnson. Retaining a Svvedish moniker, I became Ariel Carlson after I said "I do". I live in a two bedroom house built in 1920, a perfect fit for two people who possess degrees in history. We don't have pets, but aspire to. Dogs, not cats. Because why would you have a cat when you could have a dog? An opinion, of course, but a valid one. Since I was 16, Tomm has been my life. Here's a few reasons why.
Tomm's chatty, quiet, energetic, laid-back, thoughtful and adventurous. He's everything at the right time, which is only one of the many reasons I love him. Tomm loves 90's television. Why? I'm not sure. He's a fantastic drummer. When I met him in high school, he was in a band. Not a garage band. A basement band. He has two 'm's in his name because his dad is Glenn. Follow? People fascinate Tomm. He'll spend an hour trying to figure out why someone decided to buy Cheezits out of the concession stand instead of Doritos.
Tomm's favorite app is The Drudge Report., followed closely by his Wells Fargo app. He's conscientious, not stingy. Just like I'm a moderately cost effective shopper...my husband loves Boston, New York, and San Francisco. Tomm will serve others until it hurts, and then some. He's devoted to Christ, and his devotion spills over into his job, his Sunday School class, his projects, his family, and his wife. Jesus is everything to Tomm, which in turn makes people everything to Tomm. He's convinced that bacon is the smell of America. Tomm is memorable.
I am a great lover of coffee and books, preferably together, especially when it's raining. I have degrees in History and English writing. After Lord of the Rings, I'll read anything from biographies to historical novels to economic texts. Politics fascinates me, and I'm a tad excessive with how many times I check the news in a given day.
I play the violin. And the piano. I aspired to play the guitar but with less success than the former two instruments.
I am a knitter. I refrain from using adjectives similar to "good", or "avid". But I enjoy the rhythmic relaxation it provides.
I am in absolute love with Great Britain. Theater, film, literature...the city of London. It's a must-visit country.
So, welcome. I hope you enjoy ramblings.
